LED does not mean “non-fluorescent”!

For anyone with a technical interest super bright LEDs such as the ones used in modern lighting product actually use the same electro-chemical fluorescent effect to produce light as fluorescent lamps the difference is that it all happens at a low voltage and power level and is contained inside the sealed, molded plastic case of the LED itself and there is no gas involved. The scotopic sensitivity syndrome may actually be caused by the wavelength of light being produced rather than any powerful radiation or emissions from the light fixture, something to look into as LEDs otherwise have none of the failings of fluorescent lights (of all kinds) that being, a bad, blue tinted light.  Danny James Ryan 8:18pm Aug 22, 2011
